Depression ....

People often use the term "depression"' to describe emotions. However, in medical circles, term depression often refers to the symptom of a psychological disorder. The way someone feels when depressed is one of sadness and we have all felt like this at one time or another, however, it usually passes. The duration of depression brings it from just a mood we feel to a disorder that impacts our life. If the feeling of depression lasts for most of the day and then continues for an extended period our depression may now be considered a disorder in need of treatment.  Depression can ruin your personal as well as your social life.  Most of the drug addicts are of the fear of depression.

 

In this article we will go over few common causes of depression and some practical self-help tips one can do to overcome it.

Factors:

 

There are many factors that can cause depression in a person. It's a serious condition and should be taken seriously as it can lead to many physical and psychological disorders. Several factors such as psychological, physical, environmental and genetic can results in depression. Here is the list of several factors that results in depression. 

The psychological factors include

• Loss of friends, family member and spouse

• Family history of depression

• Age related health problems like heart attack, stroke and other physical changes

• Frustration caused by any problem or disease

• Low self-esteem, loss of independence, anxiety etc.

Environmental factors like

• Social isolation: it may be due to the failure in examination or business etc. 

• Retirement

    The word of God clearly tells about the cause of depression comes from the above "acts of the flesh".

Before depressed individuals are able to help themselves it's important to address motivational apathy. 

 

People with social anxiety often suffer from depression. According to the World Psychiatric Association (1995), 17% of social anxiety sufferers also have major depression. Unfortunately many people who are suffering depression go undiagnosed and untreated. If you are so depressed that your motivation is low and you feel hopelessness about the possibility of overcoming your social anxiety, it may interfere with treatment. Therefore, sometimes depression needs to be treated before social anxiety can be tackled.

Being depressed can make you feel helpless. You're not. Along with therapy and sometimes medication, there's a lot you can do on your own to fight back. Changing your behavior -- your physical activity, lifestyle, and even your way of thinking -- are all natural depression treatments.


Behavior, Emotion, and Thinking, are part of the BET behavior which represents a triangle of the inner relationships among these three mental experiences. Depression often involves the three BET behaviors which include inactivity and behaviors of social withdrawal; hopelessness and emotions of sadness; pessimism and thoughts of complete hopelessness. Each of these behaviors reinforces each other. We often make the assumption that we need to feel different before things can happen. If we move to change them the other behaviors will predictably follow.

We can't change our emotions but we can try to change our thinking. This is difficult and it requires effort on a consistent basis and our motivation is usually absent when depressed. While we may not feel like doing X because we feel it will do nothing, we still have an ability to do X anyway. We can do the motions despite how we feel.

 

Generally the Depression can be identified in two stages : 1) Self assessment   2) Perceived by others.

In the first stage, one can easily identify and get rid of the situation with self-control.

But as for as the second stage is concerned, it should be treated with the self support then, Voluntarily, we should surrender ourself to the councilors, Psychiatrist and finally we can approach doctors with others help if required.  In this stage, SUICIDAL activities can be noticed even for smaller reasons.

Prayer

Once we get into prayer, we can share our thoughts freely, without any hesitation with our creator.  It is the best "yoga" and no one can interfere with you.  You can share your feelings generously with God, since He will answer your calls without any expectations.  But if you share any confidential matters with our fellow humans, they might be exposed and we will be in trouble.  Humans are trouble creators, but our Creator is our trouble shooter. We can approach some spiritual gurus / pastors for having prayers.  Once we are in prayer our mind and body are stable in condition and the concentration is developing.  Once your concentration is start practicing to speak with our creator, you can automatically get the valuable  fruit in our lives: LOVE, JOY, PEACE, PATIENCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, FAITHFULLNESS, GENTLENESS AND SELF-CONTROL.

There is no law against these things!


Sleep

Depression can interrupt our sleep. We should resume a normal sleep pattern, get adequate sleep, and set a schedule. If we have problems falling asleep, waking, or staying asleep we should learn sleep habits to help us keep our sleep schedule. We shouldn't go to sleep and just get up when we feel like it.  It is better to avoid sleeping tablets and better adopt through exercises and peaceful atmosphere.

Proper Diet

When you're depressed keeping a proper diet and having regular meals is difficult. Lack of appetite leads to low energy and motivation from a reduction in caloric intake. Apathy, lack of motivation and your pessimism leads to poor food selections. This poor nutrition can increase the symptoms of depression.

Drink Less

Alcohol slows the nervous system and classified as a "depressant." We associate alcohol with its relaxing effects and we may choose alcohol more often when we are feeling miserable. The initial good mood we feel is then suppressed by the continued consumption of alcohol. Studies have shown that people who drink can have increased sadness that lingers the next day after even consuming just a few drinks.

Stress Reduction

Stress can be a factor is causing our depressing and its ongoing effects. By reducing your stress levels you'll help to minimize your depression levels. Work to remove those stresses in our life as much as possible.

Social Support

A social network can help you deal with stress issues. You'll connect with positive people and improve your overall mood. If you're depressed you may withdrawal from relationships but you don't want to do this. Counseling can help you if you need a supportive circle of people around you. But more number of our ladies are using their neighbors are their stress release equipment.  Most of the times, such neighboring gossips are spoiling their own life.  So, it is better to share your stress issues with whom you know thoroughly.


Go Outside

Don't stay in your home, go out and do something in the real world. Even if you just go out for a fast food meal or coffee, you'll feel better.  Too much of anything is good for nothing. When you go outside, the situation/environment is changing hence, you feel little comfort.  I have noticed most of the CEOs and other busy business people are used to entertain with pets like fishes, dogs, cats, etc. for mind relaxation.


Exercise

Exercise can have a dramatic improvement on your overall mood. The biochemical effects our bodies go through when we exercise are mood altering according to studies. Observation in clinics has confirmed that exercise is positive on the body even when we think about exercise such as when we are going to the gym. Exercise may have a psychological impact on us and this leads to improved mood. Therapy patients experience this same enhanced mood and hop before going to sessions.  But the exercises can be done according to your body condition and you can get small tips from the trainees or doctors.

3. Consumption of adequate water / correct diet

4. Make a schedule and stick to it

Most couples who work in the IT industry break up within two to three years of marriage. We simply put it down to the odd working hours, usually at night, the high stress of the job, and an egoistic attitude. "The spouses adopt an attitude of superiority to each other. "There is also a lack of communication which causes many misunderstandings."
 

Most of the love marriages are only fall into this divorce trap, since they are isolated from the social set up.  Most of the parents dislike love marriages hence, they are not actively involved and addicted to social set up as for as India is concerned.  A happy marriage is a harbour in the tempest of life an unhappy marriage a tempest in the harbour of life, more and more people are realising the reality of their relationships, and accepting divorce as the rational choice to a better life necessary premised on better relationships.

 

OBJECT: 

Seek the help of a professional if you need for your depression.

You should have the self confidence that "you can overcome your feelings" then you feel better about yourself.  

We are sentimental idiots in most of the time.  Hence, it is not advisable to comprise "too sensitive" AMONG our family matters.  

 

Avoid unnecessary TV serials, don’t waste time in TV, mobile & Radio. 

Avoid miss calls and repeated unknown calls.  If repeated disturbances are coming discuss with your family and friends.
